Start Here

Hi! Thanks for wandering by. My name is Amanda and I am so happy you’re here!
I don’t really know how this started. What I do know is that I like to spend time with my mom and she sometimes has insomnia so she ends up reading a lot of articles about different unique places that would be fun to check out. So we started going. That started part of it, but the other part sparked as I was scrolling through the maps on my phone looking for things to go do together. Did you know there’s anInternational Crochet Museum in Joshua Tree, CA or that there’s a delicious burger spot along the 8 that has juicy burgers, crisp fries, and incredible ice cream? Neither did we, until we started doing some exploring on Google Maps to see what magical places were hiding in plain sight just a few miles or hours away. We’ve found a lot of unique places just by looking out the window or using the technology located at our fingertips.
Now, I’m inviting you to share in the same adventures we’ve had. I’ll share with you the hits, and misses, that we’ve visited. What to do, where to eat, and all the important details that you need to make your adventure a success.
Here’s the thing, I think traveling and adventuring is exciting. I think it’s fun to go explore new places that you’ve never seen before, I think it feeds your soul and keeps a part of you young. But not all of us can afford to travel outside our home state, let alone outside of the country. Gas is expensive. Airfare and accommodations are expensive. Food is expensive. Life is expensive. That saide, I want to show you the unique adventures that might be a few miles away, maybe a day trip, a quick overnight visit, some place new and exciting that gives you an experience without breaking the bank. I want to help make adventuring affordable and accessible. I want to give you the opportunity to make the same kind of memories that I’ve been able to make with my family, with yours. I will always remember driving in circles on the freeway inCabazon because I got confused by a poorly signed roundabout. I will remember going toDesert Tower and wondering where I was actually taking us. I’ll remember the time spent with my mom just driving around getting lost looking for the next adventure. My phone might be out in my hand as we’re out and about, but it’s bringing us together, not causing a distraction that’s pushing us apart.

Right now, things will focus heavily on Southern California with a few places in Arizona sprinkled in. My dream? Is that this becomes bigger than I could have ever imagined with locations in all 50 states and maybe even some adventures outside of the United States.
I hope you adventure with us and that you enjoy these places that are shared in this space as much as we do. They’ve brought us a lot of great memories and we hope that they’ll do the same for you and yours.
